If you need a few shots of CDs and their cases on your websites or other places, you could do better than taking pictures of the actual items. A good solution is True BoxShot. It lets you place 3D models of discs, books, electronics and many other items, move them and rotate them, add cover images and more. You can have pictures of the cases, in any position you want, without needing the physical things on hand.

The software is free to try for a limited period of time, but without any noticeable functionality restrictions. It comes in a small package and it can be installed in no time, on any modern Windows platform. There are no special requirements you have to meet and you don't need to sacrifice a significant amount of resources to run it.

Regardless of their complexity, compositions can be created quickly and easily. The software comes with a 3D objects library, so you only need to insert one in a blank 3D environment and apply various images on them. On certain items, you can add multiple images. For example, if you insert a DVD case, you can add an image on the cover side, on its back side, in the middle and you can even insert open cases with the disc sticking out, which is another place where you can add an image.

Besides adding images on 3D elements, you can also move and rotate them. The software lets you add multiple items and customize them separately if you need to. Additionally, you can tweak their lighting, shadows and reflections and add backgrounds. You can also move the camera around, so you don't have to move and place everything more than once.

When you're satisfied with your composition, you can start rendering a static image. The software provides a good amount of output options, so you can choose different interpolation filters, pixels softness levels and make other fine tweaks. Creating GIF animations is another possibility.

High quality product compositions can be created with just a few clicks, thanks to True BoxShot's straightforward functionality.

Pros

You can insert various 3D elements and customize them with cover images. It is also possible to tweak their shadows and reflections. The software's controls are easy to master, even for novice users.

Cons

The trial version displays a watermark in the main editing area.
